The Directors

David Rovics and Reiko Maeda have been living in Portland together, playing music and raising children, among other things, for over a decade now.

David was born and raised in the New York area, and has been a professional songwriter and performer since the 1990’s, mainly writing and singing for adults throughout North America and Europe, as well as for kids.  

Reiko was born and raised in the mountains of Japan, and has been working in early childhood education for much of her adult life, including many years at the Tumbleweed preschool in Portland.  She’s also a classically-trained pianist with a Master’s in American Studies!
